Minutes Must Be Public Records
- Official minutes from school board meetings are public records and must be made available for public inspection.
- For closed (executive) sessions, only a certified agenda are permitted—not full minutes—and all discussion remains confidential as required by law.
Additional Transparency Under SB 413 (89th Legislature) Effective September 1, 2025
Senate Bill 413 strengthens transparency and accountability by requiring:
- Meeting minutes to record the attendance and voting record of each trustee.
- Minutes and adopted resolutions to be posted online within seven days of the meeting.
