On September 8, 2026 AISD will be offering free dinner meals to students. Any campus in the district that offers an after-school enrichment program will feature the program. Even if students are not enrolled in the after-school activities their school offers, they will still be able to receive a free dinner if they are present at school that day. The dinner options will meet the five requirements for a reimbursable meal, including a grain, meat or meat alternative, fruit, vegetable and dairy.

The authorizing legislation and program regulations clearly intend that meals reimbursed under the programs are to be served and consumed as part of the school program, on school or school-related premises. Therefore, school meals given to children may not be taken home.
