An Alice Coyote all my life, I have been with Alice ISD for 30 years. During my time in AISD, I have been in the administration ranks for the last 19 years, including the last 5 as Director of Operations. I have served as a paraprofessional, teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, Director of Operations and currently as the Chief Operations Officer.

It is a great honor to be serving as the Chief Operations Officer for Alice ISD. I look forward to working with the staff, parents, students and community organizations as we strive to make the Alice Independent School District the top performing school district in the state of Texas.
As an educator, I’m committed to providing students with an educational program that meets their individual needs while at the same time challenging and stretching their limits intellectually. We need to do that in an environment that is safe, nurturing, and full of high expectations. Ultimately, our job is to prepare all students to be well rounded and prepared for college, career or the military.

I’m a product of the Alice ISD system, graduating from Alice High School in 1981. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 1993 and a Master of Science in Educational Administration in 1999 from Texas A & M University-Kingsville.

My wife Sandra and I are the proud parents of three children and two grandchildren. Stephanie Ann Ruiz and Federico “Tres” Gonzalez are both graduates of Alice ISD. They both work and live in San Antonio. Our youngest son Marco Alan Ruiz is an 8th grade student at William Adams Middle School. Grandchild Alexis Garcia is an elementary student in San Antonio and Oliva Gonzalez is a year old.

The primary mission of the Operations Department is to serve the needs of faculty, students, and staff by maintaining and improving the physical environment and facilities of the Alice Independent School District. In this role, the Operations Department carries out its mission by providing professional support in the areas in the following:

Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Program
As part of our commitment to provide your child with a safe, pest-free learning environment Alice ISD may periodically apply pesticides to help manage insects, weeds or pathogens. Pesticide applications are part of our Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program, which relies largely on non-chemical forms of pest control. Pesticide applications on Alice ISD property are made subcontractor by trained and licensed technicians. The Board and the Superintendent encourages students and parents to discuss their concerns with the appropriate teacher, principal, or other campus administrator who has the authority to address the concerns. Concerns should be expressed as soon as possible to allow early resolution at the lowest possible administrative level.
