Dr. Alma Garcia 361-664-0981 Ext 1026 dralma.garcia@aliceisd.net Dr. Alma L. Garcia has been in education 30+ years. Alma is originally from San Diego, Texas, but has lived in Corpus Christi since the age of 6 years old. She began her career as a paraprofessional working with special needs students. She then moved on to become a counselor’s secretary at a junior high in Corpus Christi. While working as a secretary, Alma enrolled at Del Mar College and then Corpus Christi State University in pursuit of her teaching degree. Dr. Garcia graduated from CCSU in 1990 and began teaching with CCISD. She received her Master of Science in 1996 and Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership in 2007; all from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. During her 28 years in education, Dr. Garcia has held numerous positions. Alma has been a vocational teacher, freshman English teacher, 7th grade English teacher, Instructional Teacher Advisor, Title III Program Specialist and currently she is the Executive Director of Federal Programs and Compliance for Alice ISD. She has even had the opportunity to work at the college level at TAMUCC and the University of Texas in Austin as an Educational Specialist. Dr. Garcia enjoys the challenges of being an educator in Texas brings and she is a loyal supporter of Alice ISD.
