William Adams Middle School Jump-Start Learning Academy – Summer 2025
The Jump-Start Learning Academy at William Adams Middle School is a mandatory summer program designed to support 6th–8th grade students who are at risk of not being promoted to the next grade level. The program focuses on academic acceleration and attendance recovery.
Eligibility Criteria:
Students are required to attend if they meet any of the following:
- They failed to be promoted due to a yearly average below 70 in English Language Arts & Reading (ELAR) and/or Mathematics.
- They accumulated 18 or more absences during the 2024–2025 school year and did not meet the state’s 90% attendance requirement. Students must attend at least 90% (17 days) of the summer session and show satisfactory academic progress to be eligible for promotion.
- They are at risk of not meeting "Approaches Grade Level" on the STAAR Reading and/or Math assessments.
Program Details:
- Location: William Adams Middle School
- Dates: June 3 – June 27, 2025
- Days: Monday through Friday
- **Times:**
- Breakfast: 7:55 a.m.
- Classes: 8:15 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
- Lunch: TBD by campus
- Dismissal: 12:45 p.m.
- Bus schedule: Will be determined and announced at a later date.
Staff Schedule:
- Staff will work from June 2 – June 27
- June 2: Staff workday (7:45 a.m. – 3:45 p.m., includes 1-hour lunch)
- **June 3–27:**
- Professional staff: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Paraprofessionals: 7:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (lunch duty as assigned)
Student Conduct:
Misbehavior may result in removal from the program. However, students may regain credit by making up missed days. The Student Code of Conduct remains in effect throughout the program. All final decisions will be made by the campus administrator.
